Is the
database explorer (tree) long, confusing and you never use
some of it?
Do you say, "I never use payroll in NV2. Why does it have
to be there?
You can hide specific folders on the database
explorer. For example, let's say you do not use the payroll
portion of NV2. Then you should hide those folders that
pertain to payroll.
To do that click on the parent folder above the
folder you want to hide.
In this case click on the Account folder. In the right hand
table click on the Accounts+ tab (button) and choose
Folder Management. Then click on the header of the
Line column to sort by this column. You should now have the
word "Line v" as the name of the column (if you have "Line
^", click on it once more). Go down to the row that says
Payroll and click in the cell that says folder in the Type
column. Press F3 and choose hidden. Move
up off of this row and the Account, Payroll folder will
disappear from the tree. To make it appear again when and
if you need it, repeat the steps above and press F3 on the
cell that now says hidden, then choose folder.

To hide the other
payroll folders, now click on the Journal folder in the
Database Explorer window. In the right hand table click on
the Journals+ tab (button) and choose Folder Management.
Then click on the header of the Line column to sort by this
column. You should now have the word "Line v" as the name
of the column (if you have "Line ^", click on it once
more). Go down to the row that says Payroll and click in
the cell that says folder in the Type column. Press F3 and
choose hidden. Move up off of this row and the Journal,
Payroll folder will disappear from the tree. To make it
appear again when and if you need it, repeat the steps above
and press F3 on the cell that now says hidden, then choose
folder.
Now click on the NewViews folder in the Database Explorer
window. In the right hand table click on the Classes tab
(button). Then click on the header of the Line column to
sort by this column. You should now have the word "Line v"
as the name of the column (if you have "Line ^", click on it
once more). Go down to the row that says Payroll and click
in the cell that says folder in the Type column. Press F3
and choose hidden. Move up off of this row and the
NewViews, Payroll folder will disappear from the tree. To
make it appear again when and if you need it, repeat the
steps above and press F3 on the cell that now says hidden,
then choose folder.
Congratulations, you have now hidden all the folders related
to Payroll in NV2 and the Database Explorer has become less
daunting.

But, you say, I don't have a view called Folder Management. Click here for the answer.
